To-No Security, Inc. (headquarters: Tajimi City, Gifu; President: Naoto Aichi; “To-No Security”) will launch the Fuel Cell Surveillance Camera Solution in March 2022, with technical cooperation from amnimo Inc. (headquarters: Musashino-shi, Tokyo; President and CEO: Chiharu Nakabayashi; “amnimo”). The solution needs no power or network installation work and lets you check remote sites on video in real time.

Remote monitoring with surveillance cameras is spreading in recent years. It is used not only for crime prevention and security, but also for road and railway safety and for disaster preparedness, such as river monitoring and landslide monitoring. Where power is hard to obtain, more systems use solar panels for power. However, in weather with long periods of rain, such as the linear rainbands now often reported, the panels cannot generate the expected power, and video streaming can fail at the most critical moments.
To solve this problem, To-No Security, with technical cooperation from amnimo, has developed a surveillance camera solution that uses fuel cells (*1), which supply power stably.
*1 The fuel cells and methanol are supplied by Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

■ Overview of the Fuel Cell Surveillance Camera Solution
The solution powers IP cameras stably with a fuel cell, so you can check live video remotely even where no power is available. The fuel cell runs on methanol. The 40 L version can operate continuously for up to 8 months (conditions: 40 L methanol version, 30 minutes of live video viewing per day, and thumbnails captured every hour). It connects to IP cameras from AXIS, VIVOTEK, Panasonic, and others. With an internet connection over LTE, you can check video of river water levels, landslide sites, and more in real time from a PC or smartphone.

■ Features of the Fuel Cell Surveillance Camera Solution
1. Installs with no power or network installation work
With fuel cell power and LTE communication, no power wiring or network cabling is needed to run the unit, so you can install it where laying power or network lines is difficult. To save power, it supplies power to the camera only when capturing images.
2. Check video remotely in real time over the internet
With an internet connection over LTE, administrators can check thumbnails regularly on a PC or smartphone screen. Depending on the administrator’s settings, they can also view live video.
3. Up to 8 months of continuous operation
The fuel cell runs on methanol. The 40 L version can operate continuously for up to 8 months (conditions: 40 L methanol version, 30 minutes of live video viewing per day, and thumbnails captured every hour).
■ Applications
Well suited to places where laying power lines is difficult, such as river monitoring, cliff collapse monitoring, avalanche monitoring, coastal monitoring, fish farms, power facility monitoring, and non-electrified railway lines.
